Duni

Duni Royal Resort, a self-contained complex on the south coast near Sozopol, beside the Ropotamo region, with a sandy beach and traditional-style architecture.

About Duni

Duni Royal Resort, the complex on the south coast

Duni is a self-contained holiday complex, built on the south coast not far from Sozopol and the Ropotamo region. Known as Duni Royal Resort, it is designed as a gated resort, with its own sandy beach and architecture inspired by the traditional Bulgarian style, which lends it the air of a coastal village rather than a hotel block.

Things to do

Its position beside the protected Ropotamo area sets Duni within a still-natural southern coastal landscape of dunes and vegetation, in contrast with the densely built resorts of the north. The finest excursions start from here:

  • [Ropotamo Nature Reserve](/obiective/ropotamo-nature-reserve) — boat trips on the river, among water lilies and rocks
  • [Dokuzak Waterfall](/obiective/dokuzak-waterfall) — a trip into the Strandzha hinterland (the route is approximate)
  • Old Sozopol, with its lanes and wooden houses, a few kilometres to the north

Inside the complex, days are split between the beach, the pools and the on-site facilities.

Beaches

Duni has its own beach, and around it stretch some of the finest sands of the south:

  • [Dyuni Beach](/plaje/plazh-dyuni) — the main beach of the complex
  • [Kavatsite](/plaje/kavatsite) — a wide beach towards Sozopol
  • [Smokinya Beach](/plaje/plazh-smokinya) — fine sand and dunes
  • [Arkutino Beach](/plaje/arkutino-beach) — a wild beach in the Ropotamo Reserve, to the south

Where to stay

Accommodation is organised in the complex's hotels and buildings:

  • [Marina Royal Palace Duni Resort](/cazare/marina-royal-palace-duni-resort) — the flagship hotel, by the marina
  • [Belleville Hotel Duni Royal Resort](/cazare/belleville-hotel-duni-royal-resort) — family-oriented
  • [Holiday Village Duni Royal Resort](/cazare/holiday-village-duni-royal-resort) — low buildings, in village style

Where to eat

The complex's own venues are complemented by restaurants near Sozopol:

  • [Restorant Riviera Sozopol](/restaurante/restorant-riviera-sozopol-restaurants-riviera-sozopol-2) — local cooking
  • [Mehana Sozopol](/restaurante/mehana-sozopol-2) — a traditional mehana
  • [Dalyan Chaika Sea Food](/restaurante/dalyan-chaika-sea-food) — fish and seafood

Getting there

The nearest airport is Burgas, about 40–45 km to the north (approximate). From there, a transfer or taxi brings you straight to the gate of the complex; by car, Duni is on the southern coast road, just past Sozopol. Without a car, use the buses towards Sozopol and a local transfer.

Tips

  • As a gated complex, check what the package includes (meals, sunbeds, internal transport) before booking
  • Book a boat trip in Ropotamo — it is the finest outing in the area
  • June and September offer good weather and fewer crowds than high summer
