Sveti Vlas, the coast with a marina

Sveti Vlas sits just north of Sunny Beach, yet it breathes differently: more settled, more upscale, with the foothills of the Balkan range dropping close to the sea. Those hills give it a cooler, drier microclimate, and the shape of the bay shelters it somewhat from its noisier neighbour. This is the place for anyone who wants to be a step away from the buzz of Sunny Beach without living in the middle of it.

Things to do

The heart of the resort is [Marina Dinevi](/obiective/yahteno-pristanishte-marina-dinevi), the largest yacht harbour on the Bulgarian coast. The promenade among the boats, lined with terraces and shops, is where people stroll in the evening, and the sight of masts against the hills sets the tone for the whole town.

• Walk along the breakwater and quays of the marina at sunset
• Boat trips or simply watching the yachts in the harbour (charter schedules are approximate)
• Short outings to Nesebar and Sunny Beach, only a few kilometres away

The shoreline is split into several strips, some redeveloped in recent years:

Along the marina promenade you will also find places serving fresh fish; check opening times off-season, when some terraces close.

Getting there

The nearest airport is Burgas, about 35–40 km away (approximate). From there you can reach the resort by transfer, taxi or bus towards Nesebar and Sunny Beach, then locally into Sveti Vlas. By car, the resort is linked to the main road of the northern coast.

Tips

• Choose accommodation as close to the marina as possible if you want evening walks on foot
• In peak season (July–August) book well ahead; the shoulder season is quieter and cheaper
• The microclimate makes for pleasant evenings, but bring a light jacket for the sunset promenade
