Kranevo sits right in the middle — geographically and in temperament — between the park-like resort of Albena to the north and the buzz of Golden Sands to the south. It's an unpretentious holiday village with a long beach, gentler prices and an easygoing feel that suits families, budget-minded younger travellers and campervanners. Anyone who wants the sea close to the "action" but without its costs tends to end up here.

Kranevo isn't about sights so much as access: the sea in front of you and two big resorts a few kilometres either side.

Getting there

The reference airport is Varna, about 25–30 km south (roughly 30–40 minutes by car, approximate). From Romania it's the coast road via Durankulak and Balchik. Local buses link Kranevo with Albena, Golden Sands and Varna in season.

Tips

• Kranevo is the value pick: base here, go out in Golden Sands at night, and pocket the difference in rates.
• For camping/campervans, check the designated sites early — they fill in high season.
• The sea is warmest and the queues shortest in early June and in September.
• It's workable without a car, but one opens up the whole north coast easily, from [Balchik](/balchik) to Varna.
